Commitment

As we progress in the future of this endeavor, we will encounter frequent setbacks, issues, and conflicts. All great journeys require these things and we would have it no other way. But through them, we will remain committed to giving back to the debate community by providing the rhetorical tools for all future leaders, thinkers, and responsible citizens to express their thoughts clearly, responsibly, and logically—especially outside the competition rooms.

The Future

Our Vision

Logos coaches was founded to address a critical need in the coaching infrastructure. We wanted to create a company with a fundamentally different structure than past short-term projects. Our inspiration, Sal Kahn’s schoolhouse.world provided an excellent model for what we want to offer students: on-demand personalized service, expert instructors, peer mentoring, in-platform community engagement, and 21st century tech.

We aim to provide both qualified coaches and valuable static resources for those without the means to afford an on-demand coach or who simply want to understand the basics of an event before competing. We plan to offer these resources through expert-written Articles and high quality instructional videos. Creating, editing, and hosting videos for each category is a monumental task with little foreseeable compensation. We know! But we are inspired to at least try because of the severe lack of quality material that is provided to new clubs and competitors in many leagues. As it stands, you can teach yourself anything on youtube except Speech & Debate. We look to start filling that gap slowly in Summer 2026 with more rapid content creation in Winter 2027.

A fully volunteer-based organization isn’t going to make it when your entire team is trying to survive through college. Even Schoolhouse’s program runs on only a comparatively small proportion of College students with the majority being highschoolers. We believe that the skills and effort put forth by our coaches throughout their high-school careers should be compensated for.

There is no reason why that compensation should be dictated by us. We are an open marketplace for individual coaches. Organic and fluid prices resulting from competition should be expected. Economics incentivizes what is  affordable. We will allow our coaches the freedom to offer the most affordable rates on the market by taking the least from their earnings. While the model for this may change as our structure evolves, we commit to funding the platform by volume of traffic rather than by exorbitant rates.

At Logos, we believe that the skills learned through the civil discussion and communication of ideas are an inherently valuable goal to pursue at a societal level. That is why, although beginning as a de facto  Christian group, we intend to expand our reach outside of the “bubble.” By the Preseason of 2027, we intend to reach a broader audience by both marketing to, and bringing alumni coaches from, other leagues like NSDA, NCFL, NPDL, WorldSchools, CHSSA, Coolidge, Reagan, TFA, FFL, FCDI etc. Coaches should agree to the fundamental goals and values of the mission before joining, and the teaching of techniques contrary to the pursuit of truth, education, and civil discourse (i.e. carding misleading evidence, shouting-down opponents, spreading, arguing solely on political presumptions, etc.) will be actively discouraged.

In the future, we look to connect with sponsors with similar goals aiming to advance Speech & Debate for Civil Discourse’s own sake by Winter 2027 to work on funding more low-cost initiatives, free resources, and possibly even free coaching.
